Published in the journal Family Medicine and Primary Care: Open Access, the research explored the effects of ProHumano+ SpineDinamic (PHSD), a supplement developed by PharmaLinea, alongside physical therapy on lumbosacral radicular syndrome (LRS), a condition that affects the lower back.

PHSD, based on PharmaLinea’s proprietary complex, Qspine, contains natural ingredients such as B vitamins and Vitamin D. These components may mitigate inflammation and nerve damage in the spine.

Importantly, some analgesics which are prescribed for LRS can cause side effects, however results showed PHSD caused no side effects or addiction.

“The outcome of the trial means they now finally have a safe solution, which significantly improves the effects of physical therapy,” said Matevž Ambrožič, marketing director at PharmaLinea.

Lower back pain

Despite being the leading cause of disability worldwide, the global health agenda fails to prioritize lower back pain, and studies suggest that recommendations for the treatment of LRS are varying and inconsistent.

“They mostly target symptom relief, not the cause of the issue,” said Ambrožič.

LRS can occur due to degenerative changes such as disc herniation or spondylolisthesis, causing pain resulting from compression or inflammation of nerve roots in the lumbosacral region of the spine.

“Consumers are increasingly searching for natural alternatives to address their pain in the lower back area,” said Ambrožič.

“Many industry experts agree that pain is the next big white space in supplements.”
